Musical instruments of Bangladesh



Bangladesh has a good number of musical instruments originally of her own. Originally country musical instruments include Bansi(bamboo flute), Dhole(wooden drums), Ektara(a single stringed instrument), Dotara(four stringed instrument), Mandira(a pair of metal bowls used as rhythm instrument), Khanjoni, Sharinda.etc

Small description of instruments
  • Bansuri
The Bansuri is a transverse of flute alto India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, made of a long stick bamboo with six or seven open finger holes. An ancient musical instrument associated with cowherds and the pastoral tradition, it is intimately linked to the love story of Radha Krishna. and Krishna's Rasha Lila, the tunes on his flute are poetically associated with driving the women of Braj mad. it also is depicted in Buddhist paintings from around 100AD. The North Indian Bansuri,tipically about 14" was traditionally used as a shoprano instrument primarily for accompaniment in lighter compositions including film music. There are many size of Bansuri from 14" to 30".
